The type of pool pump motor you need depends on the type of pump you want to run with. There
are four things to consider when selecting a motor; frame size (type of
motor), Horse Power (HP), Speed and Voltage.
Pool/Spa Motor Frame Size The frame size is based
on the pump - a complete listing of compatible pump brands is listed under
each motor description. All of our motors
include a two year warranty and our technical team is available to help
you if you need help figuring out which motor is right for you - just

Pool/Spa Motor Horsepower Once, you've determined
the style, select the proper Horsepower. You can determine this
by looking at the nameplate of the old motor. If it is missing,
the horsepower can be determined by the size of the impeller. Improper
matching of an impeller to a motor will damage the motor. When in
doubt always order an oversized motor or larger Horsepower motor.
Pool/Spa Motor Speed For speed selection,
if it is a pool motor, in general it will use a single speed motor.
But there are some exceptions such as a 2 speed spa motors. Double
check on your original motor name plate.
Pool/Spa Motor Voltage The final consideration
is voltage. Pool motors generally run on 115 or 230 volt single
phase power. Many motors use dual voltage and can run on either
power if terminal board connections are changed to the correct power,
115 or 230 volt. All in-ground pool motors are pre-wired for 230
volt. Instructions for changing voltage are available on the name
plate. Please specify what voltage you need under special instructions
on your order form.
As always if you
have any questions please call our technical team at 1-800-961-7999, we'd
be happy to help you select the right motor for your application.
